Achieving Minimalism

For many people, spring signifies the time for deep cleaning and de-cluttering. But for me, fall triggers the need to lighten my load. It's a time for reflection, gratitude, quiet, and simplicity.

Those feelings are stifled when my home isn’t in order. So before the first snow falls, I like to prepare by editing the things that weigh me down. Anyone that knows me, knows I’m not a minimalist at heart, but I am inspired to try.

This year, my biggest inspiration is my daughter. Many parents are overwhelmed by the sheer mass of stuff that we are told our kids “need.” The reality is: we all need less. The same is especially true for children. The growing mind can be easily challenged amidst too many material goods. In order to teach my child what it means to live with less, I have to start with myself.
